DR. COLE'S BIO

Dr. Amy Kay Cole holds a PhD in clinical psychology with expertise in the management of anxiety, trauma, mood impairment, and relationships. Dr. Cole has been a professor at Missouri Southern State University since 2002. Prior to living in Joplin, she worked in a variety of settings including the Baltimore VAMC, two Cleveland prisons, and a community mental health center. Dr. Cole has worked in private practice for the last fifteen years and is focused on helping individuals identify and attain goals to improve the quality of their personal and professional lives.

Dr. Cole views the therapeutic alliance between client and therapist as the primary agent of change. Therapy is a collaborative process designed to create insight, confidence, and healing in clients along with meaningful change in their lives and relationships. Successful outcomes depend on careful attention to the needs, resources, and goals of each individual along with high degrees of trust and confidentiality. Interventions are tailored to the needs of each client after careful assessment of their strengths and goals. In addition, she is a member of the Financial Therapy Association and helps individuals and couples uncover the underlying psychological and behavioral issues that interfere with their financial success.

Dr. Cole is co-founder of Twin Candor
